How We Use ChatGPT in Our Personal Lives

If you don’t already know, ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence tool free and accessible to anyone with a computer or mobile device. A lot of people are using it in professional settings, helping write social media captions, generating copy for web pages, and so on. But for as helpful as ChatGPT is in the office, it can be even more beneficial in your personal life.

To show you what we’re talking about, we wanted to break down seven ways we use ChatGPT in our personal lives to make the days easier and more fulfilling.

1. Shopping Lists

If you’re anything like me, you never leave the grocery store with everything you need. Even when you make a shopping list, it’s easy to forget everything you’re running low on. But ChatGPT can help come up with extensive shopping lists. You can remove the items it generates that you don’t want and keep the ones you forgot you needed.

You can also ask ChatGPT for meal ideas if you constantly buy a specific grocery but aren’t sure how to use it before it goes bad.

2. Writing Prompts

If you enjoy writing in your free time, you probably know the struggle of wanting to put pen to paper but having no idea what to write about. ChatGPT can help you overcome this often unavoidable obstacle. Just ask it for some writing prompts or journal ideas and comb through the list until you find something that sparks your interest.

3. To Kill Some Time

ChatGPT has plenty of practical purposes, but some of our favorite uses fall on the impractical side of things. If you ask ChatGPT to tell you a joke, riddle, or story, it can deliver. Admittedly, this only holds my attention for a few minutes. But if you haven’t played around with ChatGPT’s sillier side, it's worth 10 to 15 minutes of your time.

4. Reading & Viewing Recommendations

If you’re still bored after witnessing the ‘ChatGPT Comedy Hour,’ you can ask it for book or movie recommendations to kill a bit more time.

One of the best parts of using ChatGPT to recommend media is that you can tell it your most niche literature and cinema interests, and it will return an extensive candidate list. While online recommendation articles and suggestions from friends might not understand your taste, ChatGPT will, as long as you’re specific enough with your prompt.

5. Establishing a Healthy Routine

The problem with most lifestyle recommendations online is that they don’t cater to your unique needs and schedule. And when you try to force yourself into a routine that doesn’t match your lifestyle, you’ll end up abandoning it.

But by using ChatGPT to generate a routine, you can develop a plan that caters to your needs. You can give it a prompt that works in your specific lifestyle and productivity goals and watch it build a a daily schedule that works for you. And if you see anything you don’t like, you can ask ChatGPT to remove or alter the areas that don’t work.

6. Answering Lingering Questions

Long are the days before the internet when the only way to answer random questions was to ask your friends and family and hope they knew the answer. We now have Google to help us answer general trivia questions and ChatGPT to answer more specific questions.

Anything you want to know is something ChatGPT will have a quick, detailed answer for. While you can find most of the information ChatGPT generates on Google, asking the AI means you won’t have to comb through search results to find what you’re looking for.

7. Helping With Hobbies

Learning a new language is a great, beneficial hobby. It helps connect you to new people and encourages you to travel and see new parts of the world. But, really, who has time for enough lessons to become fluent?

That’s another place where ChatGPT can come in handy. Though it’s not a substitute for a language teacher, ChatGPT can lead you through basic language lessons and define new words and phrases so that you can learn on your own terms.

A lot of people are now using ChatGPT to teach them about their hobbies and interests. Again, it can’t completely replace the benefits a full-time coach or teacher could, but if you don’t have time to learn about your hobby from a professional, ChatGPT can help fill in some of the gaps.
